April 23, 2022: Marlins 9, Braves 7

That swing of the bat from Jazz set the tone for the game and oh what a game it was.

For how poor the Marlins played offensively in 2021 how great it is to see them go run-for-run with the defending World Series champs?!?

The Marlins pitching tonight? Well it was what it was.

Elieser didn't dominated, but I don't think anyone really expected him to. 4.2 innings of work, seven hits, five earned runs allowed, four punch-outs.

Armstrong also wasn't spectacular. Two earned runs for him in just 0.2 innings.

THAT BEING SAID, this Braves lineup has the potential to obliterate any pitching staff so it could have been worse.

Okert was good, as he has been so far in 2022. He ended up with the win.

Cole Sulser was the most impressive Miami pitcher for me tonight. He went 1.0 inning with two strikeouts and no hits allowed setting up Scott for the save.

There was no shortage of firepower for the Fish in this one, and to no ones surprise the biggest chunk came from Jazz Chisholm Jr. 4/6 at the plate. One homer. Three RBI. Two stolen bases. Is there anyone out there who still doesn't think he's one of the most dynamic players in the majors? There shouldn't be.

It was really nice to see Jorge Soler and Avisaíl García step up in this one. They've both really underperformed in 2022, but García drove in a pair and Soler had one RBI. We need to see more from them...but as I've said before it's just a matter of when not if, right?

The final thing I want to talk about is Garrett Cooper. Comes off the bench to pinch hit for Payton Henry and drives in two runs. He needs to be in the lineup almost every night as the DH.

It's time to bring up Lewin Díaz to be the Marlins' every day 1B, have Coop as the DH, and Aguilar used as needed.
