April 17, 2022: Marlins 11, Phillies 3

So this was a fun one.

11 runs. 13 hits. Four players with multiple RBI's. Only three players WITHOUT an RBI.

I'm going to go out on a limb and say that the game on April 16th was just an anomaly.

The offence was one of the biggest things the Fish lacked in 2021 and I'm saying that it's not an issue in 2022.

Nothing but hot takes here on this blog.

Jazz continued his hot play in this one. Two hits. One double. One triple. Three RBI. It's amazing what happens when you let the kid play. 10 RBI on the season now, with an average of .318 and an OPS of 1.234.

Jesús Sánchez with with three hits and two RBI. He's now up to eight RBI on the season. He's hitting .343 with an OPS of 1.018.

I know it's early, but dang those are some ELITE numbers. Honestly to have TWO players at that level...like I said. If they stay healthy, they're both all stars. They keep this up for the season and don't slow down then they're on the road to being bona-fide super stars.

Another big cherry on top of the sundae of awesomeness that was the game was Joey Wendle driving in two more runs. He's now up to 4 on the season.

On the other side of things, you have another pretty darn good outing from someone who many thought would be the weak link in the Marlins rotation; Elieser Hernandez.

The 26-year-old threw 91 pitches over his six innings of work. He only allowed five hits and one earned run while fanning five. He shut down the Phillies offence (Realmuto, Harper, Castellanos, Hoskins, Schwarber...it's a pretty good lineup) while the Miami offence provided the run support. It was no small task. My hat is off to Elieser.

I could get used to this, couldn't you? The Miami Marlins are 4-5 on the season. Third in the NL East. A run differential better half the league.

Let's go Marlins.

Bring on the Cardinals.
